Locals call this target golf, but it plays wider than it looks off the tee. I had a rough day driving it and still shot my handicap, so don’t let the visuals get in your head. We didn’t see a beverage cart until hole 13 and the halfway house didn’t have quick grab-and-go food, but the tradeoff was elite pace of play — with a 7:20 a.m. Friday tee time, we never saw a group in front of or behind us. Big elevation changes, elevated tee boxes, and contoured fairways make it feel like a true mountain course and a great change of pace for the area.
