Troon North was in amazing condition, from tee to green, with some of the purest mowing lines I’ve ever seen — especially in the rough, where the striping almost looks painted on. There are more homes around the course than you’d expect, which takes away slightly from the remote desert feel, but nothing comes into play on wayward shots. It looks tight off the tee, but it’s more forgiving than it appears, so you can swing freely. Add in perfect pace of play — never seeing a group in front of or behind you — and it makes for a beautiful round.
